Google Ads Show Apple Jab at Microsoft

Google Ads Show Apple Jab at Microsoft

Remember Great Grandpa once said a picture is worth a thousand words?

Just look at this:

Apple_Microsoft_desktop

Notice the search term I’ve typed in is “Download Windows 7” and the 2nd paid advertisement is from Apple “Move to a computer that is rated #1 in customer satisfaction, a Mac”

This got quite a reaction from some of the guys at the office today, GOOD ONE APPLE!

Not sure if I’m jivin’ ya? Go try it for yourself – jump over to Google, type in “download windows 7” and click SEARCH – boom. You got it too!

Ah, yes, another “love tap” jab from Apple to Microsoft – WELL DONE!

How to Install Windows 7 on your Mac

How to Install Windows 7 on your Mac

Are you a happy Mac’r who wants to see what all the fuss is about with Windows 7? A little curios? Maybe you have a real business reason to still use Windows occasionally? Windows 7 is the newest release from Microsoft and even I, the skeptic, must admit this version of windows is pretty solid and fast.
The

If you are interested in using Boot Camp to actually boot your mac to Windows, there are a plethora of “how-to” guides across the internet. However, I’d only go to one – TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog).

Those guys put up an illustrative guide to installing this new Windows 7 on your Mac using Bootcamp – which, having done this myself, feels more stable on my mac than on my PC! I give this guide a rating of “E” for Easy / Any basic computer user (not programmer) can follow these instructions with little to no problem.

How to Make Apple Pie

How to Make Apple Pie

Let’s show by a raise of hands, how many of you enjoy a good piece of Apple Pie occasionally? Okay – so, how many of you enjoy your pie warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Ah ha – yes. Good. Let me ask one final question: How do you make your apple pie even better?
Answer: You bake a real “Apple” pie of course!

Check out how they made this real apple pie over at the Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories it looks pretty simple.

I’m going to send this to my wife and see if she’ll tackle this tonight!

New Mac Mini 2009 Mini Review

New Mac Mini 2009 Mini Review

IMG00138-20091103-1608The hype surrounding Apple’s products continue to increase with each event – not so much for me anymore. We have the iPhone, we have great MacBook’s, how can things really get that much better?

The newly rejuvenated Mac Mini enters the room – with the same small, minimalistic design – quiet attitude and cpu power with a punch in the mouth. Well, maybe it’s just a delicate love-tap in the jaw :)

It’s a welcomed improvement to see a dual-core processor along with the speed – but it’s not the quad-core (yet) which is what we’ve really been waiting for.

IMG00139-20091103-1609The unboxing of the mac-mini was very uneventful – turning the unit around revealed a nice touch with the added USB Ports, but one port in particular – this mini-HDMI port.

Really, Apple?

If you’re going to allow us to connect this to a HDTV, why not use a standard HDMI port then? Oh, because you want us to buy your freakin’ cables!

Let’s try this instead: Increase the price of the box by the $0.25 it would cost to have a real HDMI port instead; I’ll round-up the cost to $1 and pay for it myself.
To finish out this min-review, the install of Microsoft Office was zippy fast, the OSX Updates were smooth like my Mac Book Pro – It’s very nice to have more than just 1GB of RAM (it came with 2GB) and see it really fire up!

This mac was not actually purchased by me, but rather a good friend here at the office, mine hasn’t arrived yet. (Go check out his Music Blog at RelentlessEarworm.com)

At the end of the day, it’s a good quality machine that will serve for years to come. Would I buy 2 more of these: YES. Should you buy one? I’d say yes.

Want to read more about the new 2009 Mac Mini including tear-downs and benchmark information? You won’t find it here – but you can find it over at Gizmodo, they always have great stuff like that.
